In New Zealand, the basic problem is lack of accountability.
The Conservative Leader in the last election was on the correct track, with binding referendums over politics running away with the state (hence the smearing that went on from both sides of the establishment trough, for people voting against their interests to those ends).
The technology is there to create a participatory and transparent regular based issues based public referendum system as the foundation of a public democracy, as a regular recourse in not only prioritising issues for partys to compete over in elections, but also for holding them accountability to results, trends or pending policy decisions regarding such mandates.
While rocket science to your average politician & pundit, it wouldn’t be hard to come up with rules for such an approach.
IN NZ politics the basic problem is the Crown NZ govt, this govt only serves the interest of the Crown.
The Crown is the Bank of England’s entity (not the Queen).
All the more reason to stop voting.
