We Must Be Doing Something Right: Big Business Wants More Pro TPPA Propaganda

“What we saw in the weekend on TPP, we have to engage like it or not,” he said. “So we in business will be there to help and we will put our hands in our pocket as well for a fighting fund because it is really necessary.” Sir Greame

Sir Graeme said he was concerned that the public did not understand the benefits of TPP or the free trade agreement New Zealand had with China.

He said he wanted to put the facts on the table “rather than things that appeal to people’s gut instincts but aren’t backed by facts”.

So let me get this straight: Sir Greame is worried about us not knowing enough and therefore rejecting the TPPA and rather than opening up the text so we can make up our own minds he wants to chuck more money towards more Facts propaganda which we will not believe either.

Let me make it plain “Sir” Greame, give us the text. If it is so good for us why not let us read the entire text and give us a referendum! If John Key is happy to spend $25 Million on flag referendum why not come out in the open and tell us why we have to have a different flag? Is it perhaps that we have to have it to be able to take part in the TPPA which is a corporate takeover we don;t want? Let us read the text and let’s have a referendum! No transparency, no TPPA and no fucking new flag!

New Zealand businesses are planning a “fighting fund” for a pro-TPP campaign once a deal is finished and in the public arena, Prime Minister John Key was told in Beijing yesterday.

ANZCO meat exporters chairman Sir Graeme Harrison revealed his plan in comments thanking the Prime Minister for a speech to an Apec New Zealand business delegation.

Sir Graeme made mention of the street protests against TPP around New Zealand on Saturday.

“What we saw in the weekend on TPP, we have to engage like it or not,” he said. “So we in business will be there to help and we will put our hands in our pocket as well for a fighting fund because it is really necessary.”

He said that he saw some “inward thinking” during the election campaign.

“We always know it is going to come from Winston [Peters]. But it was a bit broader and we need to counter that.”

Later Sir Graeme said he was concerned that the public did not understand the benefits of TPP or the free trade agreement New Zealand had with China.

He said he wanted to put the facts on the table “rather than things that appeal to people’s gut instincts but aren’t backed by facts”.

  1. What a load of bollocks!!! The only thing these idiots care about is money, and how they can get more of it. TPP will not be good for NZ in the long term. If it is supposed to be SO good for us, then WHY is the damn thing being kept so secretive?
