Have Your Emotions Analized By Your Bank! BNZ Scans Your Face To “Help” You Discover How You “Feel” About Money!

Today I was send a link by my friend R to the Face recognition page from BNZ. I kid you not. On the page they offer to analyze how you feel about money via your computer camera. If you think that is fun think again.

It is very easy to analyze any emotion (Shades of “Lie to me” anyone?) with this kind of technology and while you may still think that if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear millions of people who died innocently in Russia’s Gulags dare to differ. Maybe now you still have a say in it but if you think they will let you get a loan in the future without that scan you’re deluded. I’m off to to town to get a bank account with another bank. If you, like me, are banking with BNZ I suggest you do the same! Oh, and think me a tinfoil hatter buy I am covering my camera’s with a thick layer of Gaffer tape too!

  1. My kids cover the camera on our computer. I thought they were paranoid until I read about remote-hacking to co-opt cameras to spy on people.

This move by BNZ will result in the use of facial recognition to assess credit-risk. Your feelings and attitudes about money will be used to determine how likely you are to default on a loan should the circumstance arise (and we know that’s coming for some low-equity home owners)..

  2. Two things – advice, go and talk to the Cooperative Bank and secondly you should have done what I did and bought a laptop without a camera – I connect one via USB when and only if I choose to use it.
