In New Zealand Landlords think nothing of making money of the misery of people needing to rent. Nowhere is it more evident than in the poor city of Christchurch where people made homeless by the Earthquake are forced to pay extortionist rents for bad houses and where the help they need to rebuild their lives is slow or non existent.
About half an hour ago around 5:30 pm a big 6.8 Quake hit Wellington and while I am greatly relieved that the damage is minimal it just came out that the government building called the Beehive has sustained some damage. Maybe now the government will pull finger seeing as it can happen everywhere apparently and get shit going in Christchurch.
By the way the Quake was so severe that our house 700 km away from the epicenter shook on its foundation much like it was floating on a big ice shoal floating and being shook by waves in a storm!
How did our John Key react? He did not come on air with a statement like Helen Clark might have done, but is busy preparing his GCSB spy Bill.
I reckon!
Ummm – is this a piss take?
No
