It wasn’t front page news and why would it be? It didn’t happen in one of our own harbors after all but near Yemen and funny stuff happens there all the time after all, n’est pas?
But last week a huge container barge just happened to break in two, out of the blue, leaving a trail not unlike what happened in Tauranga when the MV Rena hit a reef. Thing is the Mol Comfort, the ship that broke in two did not hit a reef.
What makes it even more puzzling is that it contained a massive weapon shipment for the Syrian rebels.
At the G8 meeting in Ireland, the one were Putin told Cameron you do not support people who eat the organs of their enemies (something I quite agree with) and the one where he also made abundantly clear that Russia would send weapons to Syria that have never been seen before in the middle East and just in case you wonder if he is serious the photo above is from 12 war ships from the Russians stationed in front of the coast of Syria. Does that look like and idle threat to you?
