Computer games have for a long time been the prime propaganda tool for the Pentagon and the CIA. The remote control killers for their drones had years of practice with these games and it seems whole generations have wasted precious years of their lives swallowing the codswallop sold to them as an alternative reality in which they are all powerful and able to kill the enemy du jour in huge numbers.
So I guess my questions is; Will you buy this game and subsidise the Pentagon killing machine or will you refuse their propaganda and what’s more will you start to educate those who play this game about who they support and how they are dumbed down and trained to accept billions of people they have never met as the enemy?
The latest Call of Duty videogame had worldwide sales of more than US$500 million (NZ$615 million) in the first 24 hours of its release, a new record, game publisher Activision Blizzard said on Friday.
Shares of Activision rose about 3 percent following the news, even after the company said it remains cautious about the rest of 2012 and 2013 due to the macro-economic environment.
The note of caution likely means Activision is preparing to provide 2013 financial targets that are below Wall Street expectations, Brean Murray, Carret & Co analyst Todd Mitchell said. But he expects a strong fourth quarter.
