Residents group miffed Key won’t meet them

So explain this to me Slippery John has time enough to check his portfolio and possessions and become even richer than he already is but he does not have time to meet with his constituants to listen to something that is obviously of great importance to them. Could it be that he has already pledged his allegiance to the company who wants to build the power plant.

A group of residents in National leader John Key’s Helensville electorate are frustrated he will not meet them to talk about concerns about a proposed thermal power station in their area.

Kaukapakapa Residents and Ratepayers Association (Karra) chairman Neville Miller said a hearing was expected soon on Genesis Energy’s thermal baseload power station with the case expected to go to the Environment Court next year.

Karra was told Mr Key’s electorate diary was “fully booked until after the election”.

Mr Key was invited to but did not attend a meeting on the power station earlier in the year. When asked for a written statement, a National staffer said the party had not yet produced its energy policy.
