The internet has been abuzz with a video about a guy called Kony who apparently abducts children to fight for him in his mad religion fuelled “liberation army” in Uganda. The problem is this all started more than 20 years ago. In fact children abducted to fight in “liberation armies”in Africa has been a common threat since the Angola/Portugal liberation wars and one of my dear damaged friends in Holland was a woman severely traumatised by what she had to do and saw when she was a child forced to fight with the Angolan rebels.
Kony has not been heard of for the last five years, in fact many Ugandans presume he died five years ago, his worst crimes were committed over 10 years ago and Ugandans themselves regards him as a thing of the past.
So why is a slick well produced internet video supported by the likes of CFR/UN war criminal Angelina Jolie and Ben Affleck garnering all this attention? Oh wait a minute! Duh, they found huge amounts of oil under Uganda. That explains a lot.
Here is the video and some reactions to it from Angolans themselves:
It would be great if you could post the actual videos, instead of the images – this is an important story – and at the basis of it is OIL.
I have done my own compilation at http://robinwestenra.blogspot.co.nz/2012/03/kony-2012.html
I hugely value the work you are doing to inform people in NZ (and beyond).
Hi Robin,
I just checked and the video links work fine for me. I don’t know why you only see images?
Thanks for your words of encouragement
